For most of my life I’ve struggled with anxiety, along with the fear of abandonment. During the worst of it, I was in bed for long periods of the day.

I would sweat.  A lot.

My heart would beat so fast, it felt like it was going to break my chest.

Often, tears streamed down my face.

I found it difficult to relax and be myself around people, even with friends I’d known for years.

For years I suffered in silence.  I felt so embarrassed and ashamed.  I didn’t tell anyone.  I was raised to keep feelings to ourselves.  What happens in the house, stays in the house.

I had given up on myself.  I was at the bottom of the cold, dark pit.

I was always a sensitive kid.  I didn’t know what anxiety was until I went to see a life coach.  I believed I was born sensitive.  There was nothing I could do to fix it.

So I didn’t even try.

Nothing flowed.  I felt inadequate.   There were days when the familiar whisper came back as a very loud jerk, “you can’t do this.”

I know that whisper very well.

Anxiety.

I am sharing my story of healing to let you know it can get better, as long as you do the work.

My life changed when I decided to change.  I had to find the motivation to change.  My life coach managed to persuade me that anxiety was not a life sentence.  It was then that everything changed.

I learned to stop calling myself hurtful names like ugly and loser.  I learned to accept myself for all of who I am, good attributes and bad attributes.

I learned no one is perfect.  That’s Ok because I don’t need to be perfect for others to like me.  Or accept me.

Instead of looking for others to approve of who I am, I learned to look at my own feelings of self-worth and validation.  When that happened, magic happened. What other people thought of me didn’t seem to matter that much.

I became more concerned with how I felt about me.

I learned that feelings can’t kill me.  I found my groove and my life began to flow.

I’m now paying it forward by coaching others what I’ve learned on my journey to healing  My mission is to let people know that anxiety is not a life sentence and with some hard work, you too, will feel the magic.
